Interview With THE SICKENING ( Kristiansund, Norway )

Update 10-12-2008 By Herry SIC

This death metal act came to life in 2003 first as a side-project of Markspist (Slagmark) & Beist (Slagmark/ ex-Blood Red Throne). Eventually, more time & dedication was spent on this project, making it a full-time band. In spring '07 Stjernestøv joined the ranks with his killer voices, and during summer '07 Neeraj (ex-Slagmark) was added as the bands bassist. By end of September we recorded our first demo Soiled Rotten which is now up and online for your pleasure and pain.

" The Sickening offers death metal the way regular fans want it: fast, straightforward, down-tuned and mad. All five tracks of the demo showcased excellent tireless drumming, unearthly growls and squeals, angry guitars and a very loud intricate bass! Each track is a unique composition, that is, even if the style doesn't cease, a track has its own distinction. For example, in the first track, the squealing vocals is accentuated while the unbelievable speed of the drums is what stands out in the second track. Then it's the bass on the top for tracks 3, and so on and so forth. So here's the verdict: the music of The Sickening is doubtlessly sick but not sickening at all; it's so listenable, any death metal fan will love it!

Hello! First, so who is currently situated in the THE SICKENING camp?
Hi... The Sickening Is Currently, Beist -Drums, Markspist-Guitar And Stjernestøv-Vox,Bass Is Beeing Handled By A Session Bassplayer, Olve (Ex-Slagmark)

First time, congratulation for new stuff has be released for Now, and How have people reacted to " Demo 2008 ", and what is the band doing now? are you satisfied with Great Result ??
The Promo We Created For 2008 Was Actually Just A Souvenir From Us To Our Fans In Russia When We Went There... Officially We Only Have The Demo "Soiled Rotten" Released. The "Demo 2008" Doesn't Exist... But Hey... It Landed Us A Deal With Xtreem Music... So Why Deny It :)

Why the band Choice Cover version From Cannibal Corpse with " Hammer Smashed Face " ??
Cannibal Corpse Is One Of The Best And Most Influential Bands In This Genre... And We Will Always Have One Coversong From Cc, This Time We Landed On Hammer Smashed Face Which Is A Great Song And Fuckin Fun To Play Live!

It seems like the debut new CD “ Demo 2008 ” on 2008 has been received rather well. What was the best review you’ve had and which one was the worst?
As There Is No Official Release... There Are No Reviews As Far As We Know... But If There Are Any... We Would Love To Read Them!

" Demo 2008 " is THE SICKENING most dramatic and dynamically aggressive Brutal Death metal release thus far, concentrating heavily on creating memorable hooks within a very song-orientated framework. Can you tell me how you approached the song writing this time around and how this process different from your previous Music concept ?
All Songs Are And Have Always Been Made The Same Way... Beist And Markspist Jams Out The Tunes Upon An Idea Created By Either Of Us ( Mostly Markspist ) And Then When Everything Is Put Together Stjernestøv Adds The Vocals Based On A Set Of Lyrics We Keep Or We Work Something Out Based On An Idea For A Title...

How Compared " Demo 2008 " with Soild Rotten Demo 2007 ?
The Sound Of 2008 Is More Mature Than The Sound Of 2007, Mostly Due To The Growth Of Longer Beard By Stjernestøv. There Is A Constant Evolution Of The Music Of The Sickening. The Sickening Started Early 2003 And Has Evolved From There... The Sound You Find In 2008/2009 Are More Brutal And More Compleete, But Still We Strive For More...

give way to a much more Gory evil and bombastic THE SICKENING than ever. How much of a part do classical composers play in terms of influencing the way you create your music?
The Only One Who Listens To Classical Music Is Stjernestøv... But Then Again... He Also Likes Wu Tang Clan...

Production-wise "Demo 2008 " is undoubtedly the most brutal-sounding THE SICKENING please to date yet still manages to harness a clarity that enables all the twin leads and intricacies to shine through in all their Raw Intense . What were your initial ideas of how you wanted this album to sound before you went into the studio ?
We Wanted It To Sound Close To What It Sounds Like... We Spend Countless Hours Getting The Sound Just The Way We Want It.. And It Is Like A Madhouse When The Three Of Us Sit Down And Try To Find Just The Right Sound For Every Litle Aspect Of Each Song...

Did anything unusual and/or spectacular happen when during Records? You tired yet of the comments about the drums’ and Guitar Duties placement in the final mix? Did you have the final call on the final mix?
The Ones That Does The Most Commenting On Such Stuff Is Ourselves... We Can Talk For Hours About The Snare Drum... How Fuckin Good It Sounds... And About Litle Details Of Everything... Nothing Spectacular/ Unusual Happens In The Studio As We Normally Have Rehearsals 3 Days A Week And Every Rehearsal Is Different... We Are Three Different Individuals And This Forms The Atmosphere Within The Group... So The Unusual Is Normal For Us, The Spectacular Is Everyday Occurances...

What would be the ultimate Brutal death metal package be for you to either be part of or to attend? The billing can have up to 10 bands :-)
There Are So Many Good Bands Out There, But To Name A Few..
Cannibal Corpse, Kataplexia, Dying Fetus, Inveracity, Suffocation, Kronos, Napalm Death, Deeds Of Flesh, Job For A Cowboy,

How are Death metal Movement on Kristiansund, Norway scene ?? keepin killer with have more horrify band there ?? How about High recommend for new comer band from this scene ?? I Know Norway is Strongest Country with Black metal band as well..
Death Metal In Kristiansund Is... Us.. In Norway In General There Is A Lot Of Black Metal... But Lately There Are Quite A Few Good Death Metal Bands Emerging, And To Name Just A Few; Hideous Deformity, Deject, Kraanium, Grotesque Hysterectomy, Liklukt, Blood Red Throne...

simple Question with your Opinion :
- How fuckin Kickin Riffing : Diego Sanchez of Disgorge or Jeremy Of Origin sound or Jesse Pindato ( RIP ) of Terrorizer / Napalm Death / lock Up ?
He He... Stjernestøv Would Say Pintado ( A Big Fucking Nd Fan) Markspist Would Answer Jeremy And Beist Answers Sanches

- How fuckin Intense drumming Skill and powerfully : Ricky Myers of Disgorge or John Longstreth ORIGIN ??
They Are Both Intense And Brilliant... No Comparison

- How fuckin Great Growling Vokill : Matti ways of Ex. Disgorge or Levi of Disgorge or Ruben of Devourment ??
Barney For Fucks Sake... He He... No Seriously.. Everyone Has Their Own Caracteristic Vokals And This Is What Makes Music So Interesting...

- who fuckin 4 string hell Bassist for now from THE SICKENING ??
Right Now The Session Bass Player Is A Friend Of Ours, Olve, Who Used To Play With Beist And Markspist In Slagmark... On The Upcoming Debut Album To Be Released On Xtreem Music The Session Bass Is By Neeraj

If They Are They Are If Not Then Not
