Interview With MORTALLY INFECTED ( Bratislava, Slovakia )

The band MORTALLY INFECTED was preceded by deathers from Bratislava – Mortal Inected.The band was founded in the spring of 1995 by Ondro /guitar/ and early band members – Miso /guitar, vocals/, Ivan /bass/ and Brano /drums/. In the spring of 1997 there were some line-up changes. Brano and Ivan left Mortal Infected. Lubo /drums/ and Miro /bass/ joined the band. In the autumn this formation recorded the demo „Tell me a poem“ and thereafter it was disbanded. Soon, Ondro was able to bring together new musicians and in 1998 he revived the band. Miso A. /guitar/, Jano /vocals/, Sigi /drums/ and during the summer also Miso N. /bass/ joined the band. Still, it was unable to settle a persisting band formation and more line-up changes took place. Several musicians joined and left the band – Peto S. /drums/, Rado /guitar/, Ajo /drums/, Fokus /guitar/, Spano /bass/. The third period of history of M.I. started in the summer of 2001. Peto H. /drums/, Miso K. /guitar/, Ivan K. /bass/ and in the autumn of the same year also Vuldzar /vocals/ gradually joined the band. In the spring of 2003 Miso K. was substituted by Tom and the title of the band was changed to MORTALLY INFECTED because the original title was gramatically incorrect. The music became more brutal and it was clearly tending to brutal deathmetal. When Peto left M.I. in the summer of 2005, the band existed also by the title of Decrial for a while and there were several attempts to play with makeshift computer-made drums. In the spring of 2006 Sead /drums/ finally joins the band and in the autumn MORTALLY INFECTED records the singel „Keep it fucking brutal !!!“ at „TSL“ in Nedozery-Brezany. Year 2007 was in the of show, gigs where band played besides hordes like: ABYSMAL TORMENT, GORYPTIC, ISACAARUM, LOCOMOTIVE, INGROWING, RUBUFASO MUKUFO, ETERNAL BLEEDING, CRANIOTOMY, DIFTERY, DEMENTOR, SANATORIUM, ATTACK OF RAGE, SUBURBAN TERRORIST, HEMPEROR... In october 2007 Guitarist and founding member Ondro decided to leave the band and M.I. is platying by four. Hello! First, so who is currently situated in the MORTALLY INFECTED ( MI ) camp?
Hey Bro, well, the situation in M.I. is actually the same as on EP
I am playing drums, Vuldzar is doing vocalls, Tom is playing guitar and Ivo is playing bass. We finally found our second guitarist Majzlo from the band called Metanoya, who is in process of geting learn all our songs to fully join us in shows and in writing process for next songs.

In fact we have red only one review for the EP and its the best and also the worst review we saw hahaha. And you are right, the EP has been received with very good response. And in fact we didnt expect that this will be as good as it is at all.

" The Age Of Eclipsed Humanity " is MI most dramatic and dynamically aggressive Brutal Death metal release thus far, concentrating heavily on creating memorable hooks within a very song-orientated framework. Can you tell me how you approached the song writing this time around and how this process different from your previous Music concept ?
Well, I cannot tell you the differencies between writing process on past songs because I am the band member just since 2006 and in fact nobody from current line-up was not working on this demo, so I think that the process of writing would be different, you know, different people has different style of writing. For the EP we made all songs like, our guitarists came with whole song structure and then we were making all changes on riffs to get as brutal songs as it gets.
There seems to be an even bigger influence present in thesesongs that on the likes of " Keep it Fucking Brutal!!! " and " Repository Necrotic Inception??? " give way to a much more evil and bombastic MI than ever. How much of a part do classical composers play in terms of influencing the way you create your music?
Herry „repositury Hrotic inception“ is not our song hahaha.... I am not quite sure what wuld you like to hear from me in this question, but anyway, we are not creating music in classical way. I mean we are not creating song like strophe, chorus and so on. We are always trying to use as much unexpected things in riffs as it gets and that makes our music little bit different from other bands. I cannot tell that we are using some special complicated riffs but the way how we arrange riffs together makes our mussic different.
tell me too about " Keep it fucking brutal!!! Single 2006 ", That song is KEEP IT FUCKING BRUTAL Attitude, any different with new MI stuff ?? and I remind for PROPHECY ( us ) same title here, are you Little Know or more??
Well KEEP IT FUCKING BRUTAL!!! Single was recorded in 2006 and wasnt regularly released. We have posted this song just on our myspace site just to let fans that M.I. exists and that we are alive. Anyway, this song is fully re-recorded on our EP with new sound. Thing with PROPHECY is kind a funny story, cause we didnt know that they have simillar title of song. Just several weeks after recodings, our vocallist called me to my work „hey listen, yesterday I was surfing on internet and I found that PROPHECY got the same called song KIFB“ but their song is called Keep it Fuckin Brutal so there are some changes haha.
and MI enjoy to Worked with Revenge Production for release for " The Age Of Eclipsed Humanity " As well??
Thats for sure. We were in contact with two or three labels before Revenge productions, because the material for EP was ready for release approximatelly in march of 2008, but we didnt get a deal with any of them. Then in July Dani (Revenge) wrote us on our myspace and the EP was finally released in Sepember on Revenge haha. In fact Dani is a really nice guy and he made a lot of things for us. He invited us to play Ludwigshafen Deathfest wich is som kind of cult festival here in Europe and in fact we have met there a lot of people. This would not happen to us if we would make a deal with someone else.
Basing the lyrical concept of this album around the perverse yet Violent gore related to the acceptance of Gore saints, symbols and Sadistic into the Gore theme is something MI have explored on and off on the Cover album " The Age Of Eclipsed Humanity ". From what angle have you approached this subject on "The Age Of Eclipsed Humanity "?
Hmmm… I think that cover artwork we have used for this EP exactly shows what we would like to say in our lyrics. In fact we are not very interested in gore themes, you got other bands for this. We always want to take lyrics more personally, to show people how we feel situation in the world. For example Sickness Of The Soul is taking deep look into mentally sick people, its my point of view how they see the rest of the world and cover artwork show exactly how those people looks like, they are eaten from inside and their shapes are blurred. Anyway we will probably never use a really gore artwork cause we want to take it from abstract point of view. Hopefully You understand what I mean because I dont hahaha.
Production-wise "The Age Of Eclipsed Humanity " is undoubtedly the most brutal-sounding MI please to date yet still manages to harness a clarity that enables all the twin leads and intricacies to shine through in all their Raw Intense . What were your initial ideas of how you wanted this album to sound before you went into the studio ?
Thanx a lot for your kind words. We are obviously very sattisfied with production and with final sound of the EP. Especially, because we recorded this stuff in small and for other bands in the world except Slovak and Czech bands unknown studio of our mates from Typhoid band called Typhoid Sound Laboratory (TSL). We have had no Idea about how should the EP sounds like and it will seems like Cliche, but it really came in natural way, but we came to Studio with our regular sound that we are using on rehearsals and shows. Producer of this EP is Jozef (bass player from Typhoid) and he made a really big shit on this stuff and we would like to thank him again for things he and all Typhoid band has made for us during and after the recording.
Did anything unusual and/or spectacular happen when during Records? You tired yet of the comments about the drums’ and Guitar Duties placement in the final mix? Did you have the final call on the final mix?
Well, nothing special didnt happen during the recordings at all. In fact we are very satisfied with final mix and final production as I said before. I cannot say that we had any final word on the final mix. It came out after communication between us and Jozef (Typhoid) and we were doing approximatelly two months on final mix. It took really long time to play with the sound of recording to be satisfied from all sides.

How are Death metal Movement on your resident area, Bratislava, Slovakia?? keepin killer with have more horrify band there ??
Well with bands in Bratislava area its quite difficult, cause there are just a few bands that are playing extreme music like our friends from grindcore band called HEMPEROR, there are also several bands that play porn grind like OROS or SPERM OF MANKIND, but in fact we dont like this style of UG at all. But in the whole area of Slovakia we have quite popular bands such as SANATORIUM, ETERNAL BLEEDING, TYPHOID, CRANIOTOMY, DIFTERY, ATTACK OF RAGE which are quite known in whole Europe or in rest of the world. But I think that scene is stucked right now, you dont have any young bands here, that would be known even in Slovak UG.
Any Future next Plan MI ??
We would like to go to European tour next year. We are preparing something right now with guys from Switzerland and from United kingdom, but we will see if everything will go as good as we want. Then, we are working on material for new full CD hopefully, we already have two new songs written so we will see, but it will be a killer stuff for sure.
Thanks a ton, guys! Last question, and this one is a doozy. What are your views on stem cell research, human cloning, and the "organic computers" that are sure to result from combining "flesh" with "technology"? Flying cars are quickly becoming a reality as well, what do you think of them?
Haha this is crazy, but who cares? If my girlfriend would be as good in bed as she is right now I will not care if she is human or not at all haha. No seriously, from my point of view it is OK i like new technologies, that can save life to somebody, or new information technologies. Take a look to a few years ago, who knew something about internet for example, nobody, and now it is a thing that you cannot imagine life without. If the technologies will be used for humans good then its OK, if not there would be a new themes for Gore lyrics then haha.
