GORYPTIC ( France ) 25 June 2007
answering by Guyom

Hello! How are things going bro? Ok, for first Question, How Give us a little background on the band members and how you guys formed and Can you tell us why you have chosen GORYPTIC as bands name? Do you think it fits well to your music style?
Hi dude! Things are doing very well here! So let’s start with the biography of the band: Goryptic is born in September 2005 from the ashes oh Heresy (2000 – 2005); the band’s line up remains the same since 2000. With Goryptic we released a 2 tracks promo CD in December 2005, it was 100% DIY, recorded, mixed, mastered and pressed at home! We sent it everywhere to get reviews and interviews and of course to find some gigs. The feedbacks was really good; thus it motivated us to write new stuff to release our first album in 2007. About the band name, we tried to find something new, never used so Goryptic is the mix of gore and cryptic which sounds quiet good IMO and matches which the music we play.

What are some of the bands strongest musical and non-musical influences at the moment? How would you describe GORYPTIC in stage? And how do France Metalhead normally react to your music? Are you Slam dance Audience in the vein??
We are big fans of bands like Goratory, Dying Fetus, Skinless. Then we try to create our own music. Each Goryptic members has his own influences. One is more in Swedish death, the other into US style and so on. Hard to describe Goryptic on stage, you know I’m behind my kit and don’t see so much what happens. But for sure, it’s a lot of energy, being on stage is the reason we play music! Work hard in your rehearsal room and then share your music on stage and see how people reacts it’s the best thing ever. Sure it’s better when they appreciate it haha!

How would you describe your own sound? SUFFOCATION…DEEDS OF FLESH…CANNIBAL CORPSE…any band that plays death metal inspired and always will! …. Can you describe it?
Sure those guys are the pioneers so hard to avoid the comparison! As I told ya, we are more into the US brutal death with bands like Skinless or Goratory and into the Swedish scene with Visceral Bleeding or Spawn of possession. Those are the kind of bands we listen to as well as Devourment, Waking the cadaver, Cryptopsy and so on. The list is really too long to mention all of them. Then we try to get our own style without wanting to sound like this or that one. We just play the music we get in the veins!

Your latest Proud Blasted, " From Blast To Collapse " has been out for a while and it was sick as fuck!! Are you very happy with the way it turned out? If not, what would you liked to have done differently?and how GORYPTIC Can cooperation with Chris and Boub from TREPAN’DEAD and Zardonic Which Have Remixed Song “Malformed Pig Fetus “…are you recognizing nearer them as well??
Yeah we are really happy with the way this album turned and turns out! The feedbacks are great so we couldn’t expect more! We worked hard to get it out; it was important to release this debut album without the help of a label but it makes also the things a little bit more complicated. We recorded and mixed it in the 3x8 Studio by Ugo in France and mastered it at the Imperial Mastering by Colin Davis from Vile. Both have done a great job and we are 100% satisfied with their works! For sure we wouldn’t change anything if we had to do it again. About the 2 cooperations on this album: guys from Trepan’Dead are long date friends, we did lots of gigs together and released a split together in 2002. In 2006 they released their first full length and they asked Goryptic to feature on it by playing a cover that’s why we decided to give their money back and ask Boub and Chris to add their vocals on a track. They accepted kindly and here it is! Zardonic came to us when we released the 2 tracks promo CDr cuz it was interested in re-mixing one track. We though it could be fun so we gave him what he wanted. A couple of weeks later, we listened to his work and we were quite impressed that’s why we decided to add it on the full length as a bonus!

What were your favourite tracks from "from blast..."? Is there a particular one that you're especially proud of?
I like Circle Pit a lot; first due to the lyrics cuz they deal with the Underground and then of course the music. Other track I like a lot, it’s Eight shitty hours because we worked on it during weeks to set it up and IMO the result isn’t bad.

Tell me to LOST IN CHAOS Mediazine Readers about Process Recording this CD, are you satisfied recording this material at Studio3x8, and why can GORYPTIC use Colin Davis for mastering This CD at IMPERIAL RECORDING and what your Equipment use for during Record all?? What you use AXIS Pedals At That Time And Every GORYPTIC Performing??
Yeah we are deeply satisfied with the process recording and mastering at the Studio 3x8 as well as working with Colin on the mastering. Both of them are great professionals and there is no need talking during hours to get what we want! They gave us quickly the sounded we wanted to and the work mood was great. Why did we ask Colin Davis to work on our album? Just because he did a great job on his last works and because we like his underground spirit. He really brought something more on this full length! About the equipment, we used Gibson and Marshall cab for the guitar, Ibanez and Hartke cab for the bass. Then about the drums, I didn’t use my Axis pedals cuz I got them just before the recording process and I wasn’t ready! Time and practice is needed to use them so I used my Iron Cobra.

Although i havent read your lyrics judging from your song titles, you're into little gory stuff.. Who writes the lyrics and whats the inpiration? And what you written at song “Eight shitty hours & a happy slaughter “, that lyric is Reality or just Funny??And what is the more important for the band, Lyrics or musick?
Dam used to write the lyrics but on the couple of last tracks we worked on ‘em together. You’re right, usually they deal with gore stuff but on the last tracks as mentioned previously we tried to vary. For instance a song like Circle Pit deals with the underground freaks and their implications into this scene. Regarding eight shitty hours, it’s based on a true story which took place here in France and then we tried to give it a funny aspect! IMO music is more important but maybe if you ask a vocalist he would say the lyrics haha. On CD or during a gig you never understand lyrics, only way is to read them, so you’re focused on the music only.

Don’t forget for tell us for other GORYPTIC release Before..if Compared with this CD “ From Blast…” are you any diffirent thing all about your Musickal style?
How often and where do you rehearse? Do you invite some people to see you play on your rehearsals?
Before Goryptic, we released a split CD and a MCD. Then a couple of months after the creation of Goryptic we released a 2 tracks promo CDr, that’s all. We can not compare the previous ones and From Blast To Collapse, there are too many differences! Even regarding the style, from 2000 to 2005 we played death metal with some old school influences. But now we play the music we always wanted to play. We usually rehearsal only once a week because we do not live at the same place anymore so it’s quite complicated and we can not rehearsal more unfortunately. In the coming months I think we will have to try to compose via internet in order not to waste time. Sometimes people come during the rehearsals, that’s not a problem but when we have to compose, I prefer to be alone to be 100% focused on what we do.

And how is AUTO Production as a label? Are you satisfied with the deal and will you work with them in the future?
It’s a self financed production so we do not work with a label for this release. All the money came from our pockets, and we managed and manage each step. We just got a deal with a French label regarding a French distribution and that’s all. About upcoming releases we will maybe try to find a label, it could make the things easiest, will see, depends if we get a good deal.

Are you now in the process of new materials? when we can expect new proudly blast from GORYPTIC?
We start working on new stuff a couple of weeks ago but we still do not have a new track; we are quite slow and time is missing due to the gigs and the promotion of the album. I hope we will efficient soon. I can give you a date about a new upcoming release, it’s really too soon and then it depends if it’s a split CD or a new album.

previously I more recognizing first band from your country, Im Still Contact INHUMATE, IMPERIAL SODOMY, FATE,RECUEIL MORBIDE, KRONOS and mores, How Their news for This Present Moment?
