Brutal Death Metal band Decaying Purity was established in 2005 in Istanbul. Mustafa Gürcalioglu (guitars) and Onur Gazioglu (drums) who played together before in another band founded the bases of this new group and started immediatly to write songs and orderly studio works. The band was influenced by USA Death-Grind Sound and USA Sounded European Brutal Death Metal. After previous changes of members, Malik Camlica (bass) was included in to the band. The band who passed the summer of 2006 in writing songs kept searching for a vocal. After different searches Serkan Niron was included in to the band and the ideal staff was formed. After solving the staff problem, in their studio work the band recorded 3 songs and published a limited amount of "Rehearsal Promo 2006". The band received very good reaction from in and out of the country. Many underground distro and labels were interested in the recordings. The band was going to be in the split album with Fecal Corpse and Blast Perversion which was going to be published by Rigor Mortis Records (USA Texas) but because of label problems it was cancelled. The band after the demo without stopping continued to work on the debut album and to write new songs. The band which took part in many ogranisations received excellent critics. In 2007 September, the band started recording at the Istanbul/Kadikoy Turquosie Studios the full lenght album of "Phases Of Dimensional Torture". The mix and mastering of the recording was made by Serhat Deniz, Emre Sen and it took about 2 months. For the artwork design the band worked with Jon Zig (Disgorge, Suffocation, Deeds Of Flesh, Severed Savior, Gorgasm... and many more). Decaying Purity decided to sign with Grotesque Productions from Spain.

Greets, this is Herry SIC doing LOST IN CHAOS Mediazine interview. Great to meet DECAYING PURITY indeed! You are brutal as fuck!
Hi Herry, this is Onur, nice to meet you, too, and thanx for your SICkness !

Hi! Up till quite recently I didn't know DECAYING PURITY. Because there might be quite a few people out there not yet familiar with the band, I think giving you an opportunity to introduce yourselves is an appropriate way to start this interview. So please feel free to give us an introduction to DECAYING PURITY. How old were you when you first got into extreme metal?
Well, Decaying Purity (DP) was founded in the end of 2004 by me and Mustafa. Till 2004, we were playing together in the other band named Core. There are many bands in the Turkey, but three or four of them are most known bands outside of here, like Cenotaph. Extreme metal was not approved in here. So cheap shows and no support we got. There’s not any production label to release extreme metal, it’s hard to find any sponsor to organize shows. We believed that the making a good promotion and working serious take us to world. We don’t have money but we promoted the band and album by means of some media like MySpace. We got the fucking show on the road at last, and we released our “Phases of Dimensional” (PODT) album from the Grotesque Productions, then we went out from here. By the way, I play this style since 12 years; other members are of the same age, so they got since 6-7 years.

Explain the name DECAYING PURITY?
Increase defects or degeneration; lose one’s virginity; decrease stability; reduce quality…huh?

Tell us about yourselves, what are you like outside of DECAYING PURITY? You look like a cool bunch of guys to hang out with!
Hee hee, yeah, of course we don’t watch over the hell’s gates … I can tell that the private life of each member is quite dense. We try to be together when we don’t play.

You guys involved in any other projects or bands we would want to know about?
DECAYING PURITY Member Is A Moslem Person?
I and Mustafa were playing in Core (Brutalcore). I play thrash cover band named Solitary; Mustafa has a project Disorder Bringer; Malik and Serkan play in other death band named Colostomy. There is no religion in the boundaries of this band!

You are from Istanbul Turkey. Cool. My good friends in "Horrid" are from Turkey as well and you've played shows with them as well as a just recent show with Cenotaph, Colostomy, and Core. How was the show?
Istanbul is the coolest city of Turkey. We haven’t played with Core or Colostomy. We’ve played with Cenotaph 2 times. Those shows were aggressive, merciless and full of town. Our extreme metal fans are too awesome; they are hungry to more extreme!

Who, or what, are your biggest influences when it comes to writing music? What are your influences?
My biggest influences were Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse. But each member has their own styles. For example; Severe Torture, Disgorge (US), Broken Hope… But the best songs are being created when the anger occurs.

"Phases of Dimensional Torture" is your First CD album. Since I haven't heard the first one (yet), could you tell me a bit about, you debut album and the way it differs from "Phases of Dimensional Torture"? How about Split With Fecal Corpse and Blast Perversion which was going to be published by Rigor Mortis Records (USA Texas) Cancelled?? Are they ripping off the band factor?? How with Grotesque Productions??
We had recorded the 3 songs firstly. Tried to release from MySpace, and taken good feedbacks. Thus we released the Promo Pack as CD and distributed it without price. As well, the split CD was not cancelled. We have sent our 3 songs to Rigor Mortis Records, but they haven’t turned and talked to us. Other bands had no idea about split :) Thus, we started to record PODT album. And as you know, they found us by MySpace…

What responses did you get from the people, the scene and the zines in the Turkey and the rest of the world on your previous releases?
We get good responses, people buy our products. First issue of CD had sold out. Turkish zines are too much interesting.

You claim to be influenced by USA Death-Grind Sound and USA Sounded European Brutal Death Metal. Could you tell me a bit more about that and, in general, could you name a few bands, and perhaps some non-musical things (e.g. movies, books, etc) which form your main influences? Are you deal with Gore Themes?
Of course there are some materials we influence, like horror movies, some bands… Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Gorgasm, Severe Torture, Broken Hope, Hills Have Eyes, Terminator.

The songs on "Phases of Dimensional Torture" are quite long and complex. Could you explain to me how the actual songwriting process takes place within DECAYING PURITY? Are you satisfied with Serhat Deniz, Emre Sen at Turquosie Studios? Tell me the Process and equipment use during that recording...
We make songs when we gather at my home, and write down to computer. Then work on them on studio and fix the unripe parts. Serhat is our old friend, he’s not from Turquoise. Emre Sen don’t know this style nor does Serhat know. Thus we called Serhat to help us at Turquoise, then he proven Emre’s problems. I used Istanbul Cymbals, Tama drums, and Axis longboard twin pedals. Mustafa used, Jackson Concept guitar and EMG pick-ups, and Malik used Ibanez SG bass guitar. I thought, the microphone was Shure.

I see some sick artwork CD come from sick artist JONZIG, are you know as well Zig? Why work him, are you pay expensive for this Job?
We know Zig from MySpace. Anyway we were following his works. After the album recordings we sent our songs and lyrics, and then he listened and liked them. So he worked with us. His prices are expensive for us causing our national economy. But it was worth…

Name 4 bands you would love to share the stage with and Name 3 bands that you dislike
4 are Cenotaph, Ketum, Perpetual Genocide, Inveracity. There’s no band that we dislike.

Who in the band writes your music? And Name one song you love playing live? Why?
And what was the first concert you went to as a fan?
I and Mustafa wrote old songs, but we write the new songs together. My favorite is Phases of Dimensional Torture. Because it’s most spiritual song. Suppose that I went to Slayer in 1998, it was a dream, Paul Bostaph from Testament had been played…

Who manages the band, who does all the marketing, promoting and who is a lazy bastard?
As you know, I and Mustafa are the founders of the band and we manage it. But each member has rights. Mustafa does all the marketing and promoting, I solve technical problems like website, designs. There’s no lazy bastard. There’s lucky bastards, Serkan and Malik.

What is the funniest thing the happened to you while performing? (Either to the band or to a band member) Where is the band’s favorite place to play?
I can’t choose which one is funny, because cheap and economic shows are being stage to poor and funny views. Our favorite place is Ankara for now.

Tell us of your most memorable show. What bands were playing and why was it memorable for you?
Suppose it will Carnal Decapitation DeathFest or Ludwigshafen Deathfest. They will be our firsts. Two fests also including our favorites, like Hour of Penance, Inveracity…

What advice would you give to someone who wants to play extreme metal?
Think twice before it starts!

Your opinion about Mp3 Trading?? Now is a Lot of some Blogger (on web Blog) Doing that activity. Just uploading some stuff on sharing provider hosting, they are Follow it spread the stuff worldwide, are you deal with it?? Give me for your some personal reason.
Sharing will be, it also should be. But we don’t share our mp3 content. We know that our PODT album is being shared on the web forums, IRC and peer-2-peer networks. We approve them on condition that whoever sharer shows respect to work it had made. In a forum, I saw that fucking “thanks for your labour” comment below our album download link; who did labour? We or fucking uploaders?

And How about Free Media sharing Hosting like as myspace.com, YouTube, etc for Death Metal Movement?
They are awesome ! You can protect your content by means of them and they have biggest roles about promoting nowadays. And also they are all free.

So, you have been on big events in the Death Metal genre, on several big and small festivals. In your opinion, what was your best show, and what the best fest/happening you appeared, and destroyed?
Best fest equals to best equipment and people. We didn’t saw both of these two. But I can say that the show at IF Performance Hall with Cenotaph and Rigor Mortis was the best for us.

Do you guys have hobbies/interests, besides playing death metal?
Listening death metal :), drinking and socializing with our fans… These are commons. Also there are non-common hobbies I can talk about :)

Is there any thing you want our readers to know that I didn’t ask you or talk about already?
I don’t remember.

Any comments or thoughts you would like to express at this time to those reading this?
Hope they had enjoyed our album. Indonesia has got better listeners than many countries. And they like too brutal! We appreciate this.

10 The Best Stuff for life time Death Metal for DECAYING PURITY?
Tuborg Beer, a place to drunk, cigarette, rehearsals, unlimited schmooze, broken hope, disgorge, suffocation, morbid angel, and MONEY the most important thing to make everything.

This Question Just For, Please for some Reason Too, Thanxs :) :

> Serkan Niron: Now How Compare Deep Killer Vokill From Matti Way and A.J. Magana??

Magana’s voice is really powerful. We saw this on Deprecated and also Disgorge’s “Consume The Forsaken” album. But the only thing I think when you say Matti Way, the sound of the ripping meat of the throat. He uses an original and perfect vocal style. In this case, Matti Way is unique!

> Mustafa Gurcalioglu: Now How Fucking Shreed Riffing Awesome From Diego Sanchez and Shawn Whitaker??

Diego Sanchez rules!

> Malik Camlica: Now How Compare The Sick Bassist for this Death Metal Moment, Derek Boyer or Alex Webster?

alex, çünkü camiada ekol

> Onur Gazioglu: Now How Compare Intense The beat Drumming, Igor Cavalera or Ricky Myers??

Ricky’s blasts and twins beat Igor’s, but Igor sends multiple ethnick sonic boom to Ricky and he wins.

Are you know some Indonesian Fucking Metal scene there? Some band / Zine / Label / distro or Individual person?
Yes, the guy who has designed our logo was the Indonesian. But he had died in tsunami. I now remember any name else to give, but really know that the Indonesian scene is the very active about death metal.

Your last fucking words for this end interview
Listen death metal of good quality, visit our pages and community, and never make concessions over brutality!!
