INFESTED Interview ( taken from LIC # 17 issue )

Hello guys! How are you? Are you doing Now??
hey bro, thanx, we're fine. we are rehearsing our new songs, next monthwe'll enter the studio...hope everything will be okay. trying to get some cash for the studio, we're all poorbastards hehe.

Why don't we start from the Beginning?how did you guys hook up? Would you like to explain the term " INFESTED" For those unware of what is for you and Other Members?
well, the band was founded in summer 2000 by Simon and me.Niklas joined us a few months later and we started to dosome own songs. during the next period we became better, both in our instrumental possibilities and songwritng.we were searching for new musicians all the time, but thatwasn't an easy thing. finally in 2002 Andreas came to us as the bassman. feeling now complete we recorded our first demoin the same year. in 2003 Mirco got to us, so we had twoguitars now which was a step forward to do more brutal stuff.we had not the pleasure to do a lot of live-gigs, we had likethree in a year, it's not easy when noone knows you. in fall 2003 we did the promo in order to send it to labels. we got a few offers and Revenge Productions was the best for us.hm...I think Niklas came up with the name INFESTED. the ideawas to infest the whole world with our music, that's whyINFESTED. nothing special about that really...it's asimple name that's easy to remember too.

I Hear INFESTED recording stuff as you send to me last day, That is Pieces of Sick!! I hear Mos t some Groovy as fuck part everywhere!! What your Influenced you start your spree of Nauseating music creature?? Are you deal with most brutal Death metal with Groovy touching in the Veins??
thanx for the words! We are all into the slam-parts andthe groove stuff, it's the best thing for live performance.we build weird and technical stuff arond that, so thatit becomes more powerful and straight in your face.the main influence were definitely DEVOURMENT and DYINGFETUS. their mid-tempo parts were always impresive tous. but we don't listen only to that kind of bands, Iprefere the weird and aggressive stuff like ORIGIN, ION DISSONANCE or CEPHALIC CARNAGE. it's important to keep it varied, not to let itget boring. I mean I can't listen to DEVOURMENT thewhole day...but I do almost hehe.

Can you tell me about last release as New release at REVENGE PRODUCTION Are you can compare with INFESTED New release?? Why INFESTED more choosen sign with REVENGE Production, are you know some bands and guys at this label Often you contact before it? Are you know as great bands at this label? Such as DESPONDENCY,VENERAL DESEASE,etc???
well, "until it breaks down again" will be our first releaseon REVENGE RRODUCTIONS. the demo and the promo were bothselfreleases. shure, the new tracks are different, youcan't do the same thing on every cd. but still it's theINFESTED-style you can recognize when you know the oldstuff. I would say that the new songs are more complex.there are a few metalcore-influences, just because welistened to this music a lot in the last time. the focus
is on the groove, in spite we have some weird parts init, you can still feel the flow. but what can I say, justlisten to the cd when it's out.we know DESPONDENCY, they're an awesome band. we hada gig with them a few weeks ago, spend a really good time with the guys. hope that we can do some more gigswith them in the future.

if you Write Lyrics, what Inspires you?? How did you guys Come Into Death metal Musicness??
that can be anything...when I write lyrics I'm firstsearching for a topic. that might be something I read, from TV or a movie or just a thing that I think about.I mean, you can find an inspiration everywhere. I tryto make the lyrics interesting and also a little bit complex, so it fits to the music. lyrics about killinga women or describing your own shit wouldn't be theright thing for our songs, it just doesn't fit. we do this kind of music because we enjoy it the most.I can only speak for myself, I came into deathmetalbecause it's a very variable genre. you have all kindsof rhythms and tempos, you can change it all the time, put some styles from complete different music to it. you can make it very difficult to play, the sky is thelimit, you know. also the speed and aggression, boththings push you to become better and better on yourinstrument. it's a thing that I just like to do, that'sthe main reason.

What do you Enjoying do in you spare time apart from make sick Musick and carrying out the occasional activity here and there? Do you only Listen to some Brutal death metal with groovy touching stuff??
at moment a have to work a lot, don't have the time for muchother things than music. I play my drums whenever I can,do also music on pc, noise, electro and drum'n bass stuff. Simon is playing his guitar all the time, that's why he'sthe best on his instrument of us all. besides he has to dosomething for school. Niklas also goes to school, he doesit in sweden, so I don't know what he's doing all the time.he's the artist in the band, does a lot of drawings and otherdesign stuff, really good things. he's also the one who doesthe whole design and layout for our covers.no, we don't listen only to deathmetal, there's too much greatmusic. I listen to electro-stuff and metalcore the most, justa few deathmetal bands. Niklas is the one who's deep intobrutal deathmetal, you should ask him next time.

Are you know guys from the Germany Brutal Grooving " TEARS OF DECAY ",And How are with TEARS OF DECAY Now? And what you think of the Germany Underground scene now?? Do you have any some faforite band to tell me and why??
um, the only German band I listen to is DESPONDENCY.they have cool ideas, fat slam-riffs and they're goodmusicians. and a blackmetal band from the south of Germanycalled EMPALIGON, their cd just kills.we don't have much contact with the guys of TEARS OF DECAY, I think we traded some cds with them, that's all.it's a very little underground scene here in the north, but in other parts of Germany it's doing well so far Iknow.

is any of INFESTED member playing in another band beside, have you played in any band before INFESTED??
Mirco is playing drums in a hc-band named CALLING GINA CLARK.the rest of us are exclusive members of INFESTED at the moment.it was our first real band ever.

What's the best thing about being in INFESTED? And do you have a personal dislike towards any bands / artist and very wise, what bands do you admire most of all??
for me it's a pleasure to be in a band with such goodand creative musicians. I mean we're from a little city, I neverthought that here I'll find such people. we are allquite normal guys, there's a good chemistry inside thisconstilation. well, the bands/artist I don't like just don't interest me.they music is boring to me, there's a lot of them. I don'thave a disliketowards an artist in particular. almost everythingin pop music is just shit, most of the so called "musicians"are no musicians at all in my eyes. they're entertainers for little girls and boys with too much money and that's all.I can't say what band I admire the most, there are many bandsI like pretty much, not only metal bands of course. to name a few: ORIGIN, CRYPTOPSY, ION DISSONANCE, APHEX TWIN, MERZBOW,PANACEA, THE POLICE, SQUAREPUSHER, DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, PHANTOMAS, TOOL, MESHUGGAH, DILLINJA.

If you had to choose, what would be the most Monumental to you and let me hear your all time best records, what do you play the most at the time in your CD Player??
the most monumental thing for me would be have succes withmy band, to earn enough money just by doing music. and to havethe felling of a full life.at the time I listen to the band THE END, got the cd from a friend.and there are some cds that are almost every week in my cd player, that would be all the bands I mentioned before.

Do you watch a lot a movies in your spare time?? Are there any particular genres that you like to follow??
no, I don't watch a lot of movies, just here and then.there are movies of course which you can call myfavorites, like EVENT HORIZON, SEVEN, JU-ON,ALIEN I-III, THE RING, PULP FICTION, HEAT, SEVEN SAMURAI.so you see, there's no particular genre that I prefere.

Are you know about Indonesian Underground Movement scene?? Have you for any contact with some Bands/Records/zines/individual from my country, and what your Opinion about Indonesian Condition to day as you look and hear by Internasional Media for all days??
I'm really surprised that there are people that seem to know our music in Indonesia. I've send a few cds to somemaniacs in your country, really proud about that!we had an interview with CENTRAWEBZINE, a review atROTTREVORE RECS ZINE and we're in contact with JASAD. it seems to me that the UG movement is going well there.

Do you have any plans for the near Future with the band? Any upcoming releases / GIGz Planned??
we'll do the cd in june, after that we have to do some gigsto promote the music. we will play at the LUDWIGSHAVEN DEATHFESThere in germany, hope that we can do some more this year.Simon has already new ideas for songs, so I think we'll releasesomething in the next year, maybe a split or EP, we'll see.

that's about it for the Interview, would you like to say any last words of wisdom before we wrap this one up??
well thanx to you for the nice interview! keep on supportingthe underground bro! cheers and thanx to the Indonesian scene, you rule!!!
